The Lighthouse Socks

Orange knee socks

Can you see why I call these the Lighthouse Socks? Even in dim light, they shine like a lighthouse! Made with self-dyed yarn (with Kool Aid), they really "stick out".

As I had two balls á 50 grams, I wanted to make the socks as long as possible, I chose the toe-up method. I used a generic toe-up pattern, but I can't remember what it was called!

Designer of July - Stephannie Tallent

A few months back I got a mail from StephCat , a knitwear designer who had seen my Designer of the Month series and wondered if she could participate.

Although I was not familiar with her work before, one look at her work convinced me that this is a great designer to interview - just look at the gorgeous Beachcomber vest for example!

Oops, look how far June is already! Time for the Designer of the Month post. This time I interviewed the talented Alexis Winslow, who lives in Brooklyn, NY and works as a printed textile designer for children's bedding. You can catch up with her on her blog, knitdarling.com, where she writes, and video blogs about all her knitting adventures.

Charity scarf pile is growing!

Scarves

My charity knits are coming along slowly, but coming along anyway!

Here are two scarves I knit some time back - using up stash and looking forward to giving them to someone in need.

The left one is made with local sock yarn from Wollkontor Erlangen, some Finnish wool and an old yarn called Tiffany. It was knit in fisherman's rib with 4 mm needles, and it's about 1,70 long. I think it used about 200 grams of yarn!

Cute Coraline

Coraline

I'm so happy to finally be able to show you my Coraline cardigan, which I have been working on for a good while now, and which waited for a long time in my shelf before I got the right buttons for it (and actually sewed them on!). But here it is now - and I love it!

The pattern is Coraline by Ysolda. I did make quite a lot of modifications, read on for more.
