Everything knitting related - finished objects, works in progress...

Raisa Raitakassi

You know how the scraps and half-balls just seem to become more in the deep corners of the stash closet, and before you know it the rest-bag is full again? I do. Therefore from time to time I have to make some kind of scrap project to clear the bag out.

I've received gifts

I take part in activity called "Random acts of Kindness", mainly through the groups on Ravelry. One posts a wish list of things one wishes for, and some one else can then send these items (or thoughts or anything) to the wisher, without getting anything back or getting money. Someone else might then send something for this person.

Creativa, part 2

Here some more impressions from Creativa, the gorgeous craft fair in Dortmund, which I visited last Wednesday.

First the coolest ones. A lovely picture, no? But look at pic two: it's made with cross stitching! This was part of a Latvian stitch art exhibition, and I must say I was really impressed!

There were many interesting pieces from Latvia, but I just photographed this one, because I found it so fascinating.

The third and the fourth picture are similar: you first see some nice pictures, and then you come closer - and you notice they are knit!

How marvellous is that!

Now, click "Read more" to see some mathematical quilting!

Creativa, part 1

I had Wednesday off work this week; I still had a day left of holidays 2008, and if I don't use it by the end of March, it's gone. So we originally thought, Nick and me that is, thet we'll go to Düsseldorf and see some sights. However, Nick got ill and stayed in bed that day.

I had read about the craft fair Creativa on Ravelry, and it happened to start on the Wednesday. And when the weather decided to very sightseeing-unfriendly, I made up my mind and headed to the fair in Dortmund.

Swap pack received!

I took part in the Ravelry Finnish knitters -swap (or am still taking part, as my package has not yet been sent) and received a gorgeous packet from Norway, from Nunt.

I got the book I've been wishing for, some Kool Aid (also a long-time wish of mine!), a gorgeous pattern for cabled fingerless mitts and the yarn to go with it. I was really happy to receive the gift and thanked Nunt at Ravelry.

New yarn in my stash!

After the Hamster month I think I got a bit carried away ordering yarn... let's see what we have here.

First the actual reason for ordering: Malabrigo lace. I'm taking part in a swap, and decided to send my partner some lace yarn. Plus I've been planning to try some lace myself, too. So two skeins for me in gorgeous green (colour Forest) and two skeins for the partner in another lovely colour!

There's no point in odering just four balls of yarn, is there? So I got some other things I liked too.

Show your pencil cases and win!

The Darfur group at Ravelry has been moderating the Pencil cases for Sudan -KAL/CAL since the beginning of the year. The results are great - by the end of January we had about 50 cases done and sent to HELPSudan, I don't even know how many we have now!

But the KAL is not over yet. It will end on the 31st of March, so now's the time for the last push (or better said knit).
