This is my tracking page of my goal in 2011: knit 50 items for charity.

The weather is getting warmer, the Sun is shining, it's almost time to leave the jacket at home and go out in a t-shirt.

So why on Earth am I knitting heavy woolen scarves?

There are two reasons. First: they are for charity, and as I am way behind on my "knit 50 items for charity" resolution, I have to start somewhere, and I liked the idea of scarves.

I was going through my year last weekend, and decided it would be nice to pull together my knitting highlights and the steps I've taken to build my site! So here it is: the best of Worsted Knitt in 2010!

I've been making a lot of hats lately! I'd like to share them with you - here are the first two.

The first gorgeous tam is for my mother-in-law, who's had it a bit rough with her health and has had some of her hair removed recently. To cover and keep warm the bald spots she wished for some knitted hats. I decided to make a few for her to choose from - this is my first try.

Look at these pretty scarves! They're all made exclusively with reused yarn and scarps and half-balls from my stash.

Maybe you can recognize the purple yarn? I ripped my Hug shrug, which was finished in 2008 and after that was worn less than 10 times altogether. It's now been reworked into 1 1/2 scarves which I will be donating to the homeless people in Duisburg, a neighbour city where an active knitter has organised a collection for warm knits for the homeless this winter.

I love my local animal shelter for being able to use almost whatever I knit, including simple shawls, which they sell at the fundraising events and "open doors days". Very delicate, complicated shawls are not suitable, because due to the amount of work and material they require, they would cost too much for the audience generally visiting the events. Small shoulder shawls, made with less than one 100g ball of sock yarn, using a simple stitch pattern however is the perfect product - useful, beautiful even though simple, and more interesting to buy than a pair of socks for example!

To answer right away: it's a knitted bag with a flap top; you put a baby in it thus keeping her warm but leaving her a lot of room to kick. During the night/naps, it may also remove the need for a blanket completely!

I did it! I finished all my KYH (the Finnish KAL where you cast on 26 items in June and finish them all by the end oh July) knits!

Ok, I've cast on 26 things in June, all because I'm participating in the Finnish KAL I mentioned a few weeks ago, where you - starting from the 1st oh June - cast on something new every day until Midsummer, and you finish everything my the end of July. It's a challenge, but so much fun! Here's what I have ready (or almost done) by now (& since the last posting)
