WIPs

Some time ago I asked you, what should I do with the ugly yarn I had - a weird mixture of different fibres, and of a funny colour of blue-hued ice.  I got some great suggestions, but I decided to take the easy way out, and just start a shawl with YO increases around the middle stitch, with big size 15mm needles. Here's the beginning.

I love cats. I really do, but I don't have one - and propably won't for a while, due to my life situation. A while back my need for a cat became too big, and I started to knit a cat. Today I finished him.

My new job started last tuesday, and now I have to commute at the rush hour. It’s not far, but it’s still a 30 minutes spent in a glorious Dublin Bus. I decided that I need to get my yarn out of the closet and start knitting in public.

I haven't shown any recent knits in progress, but only published them when done. I think some of you might enjoy seeing the WIPs too, so here goes.

I'm so excited! As you may know, I am a relatively new knitter, and have never yet knit a 'bigger' item like a sweater or cardigan (except for a baby cardigan) Somehow I just don't get round to it, even though I'd like.

Well, I thought I'd start with small steps. So I cast on Hug.

I reconed it's a garment, almost like a cardigan, but not as big and intimidating. Plus I really like it and will need someting like that for my always-cramped showlders.

I went to Finland for a couple of days, to meet my family and to relax a bit. What better way to relax than going to the sauna every day, and learning to knit entrelac (not simultaneously, mind you). I cast on and made some progress on the Danica scarf during the 5 days I was there.

This weekend I finished my third stash busting scarf, knit from one end to the other with big needles and funky yarns:

I am one for many projects on the go, so I decided to start the string bag. I decided to use some old cotton I got from Lidl at the beginning of my knitting career. Here's the humble beginnings.

Thought I'd show you all the tunisian crochet pot holder I did for my Coffeeswap 3 partner Else. Shh, she doesn't know it yet eg she hasn't received the packet yet - I sent it on Friday.
