Finished a cat bed

After I knit one cat bed for charity / animal shelter before Christmas, I decided I will definately need to make more of them - they are fun, use up fun fur and novelty yarns, plus they are for a good purpose. I hope to give this to a local no-kill shelter as soon as possible. The bed is shown here with a toy pig, as unfortunately I don't have a cat who could model it.

Red space socks

When in Germany during last Christmas holidays I stocked up on sock yarn (as shown in an earlier posting). I also bought Regia Galaxy, self striping yarn which will make little 'galaxies' in the sock; little rings of Jupiter so to say. It must be the coolest idea ever, this yarn!

Noro yarn is lovely

I finished a pair of beautiful Fetchings in Noro Kureyon yarn couple of days ago. The funny thing is, just started them a couple of days ago! These were so quick! And they are gorgeous. I have been wearing them every day since they were finished. Here they are posing in Dun Laoghaire, where we had a little day trip today.

New kool yarn

I played around with some more Kool Aid, and thought I'd show you the results before they go on a ball or a project even.

First one's made with two sachets Orange, one Cherry. The yarn weighed 127 grammes.

Next yarn weighs only 50 grammes, so I only used one sachet of Ice Blue, and one Grape. The grape is too heavy here I think, I was hoping for a more turqoise yarn... but I'll learn for the next time.

I'm tackling an adult-sized garment

I'm so excited! As you may know, I am a relatively new knitter, and have never yet knit a 'bigger' item like a sweater or cardigan (except for a baby cardigan) Somehow I just don't get round to it, even though I'd like.

Well, I thought I'd start with small steps. So I cast on Hug.

I reconed it's a garment, almost like a cardigan, but not as big and intimidating. Plus I really like it and will need someting like that for my always-cramped showlders.

Hot water bottle cozies

What do you know, I have many things on the needles: a pair of socks, a bag, a scarf and tunisian crochet, but of course then some bug bites me and I just have to start and finish two hot water bottle cozies in a few day's time. My only excuse is that the bottles are really new, and in need of cozies. Well, here they are.

The left one is made with scraps and ends of ToppTå Norwegian chunky yarn. I love it, and it is vert suitable for this purpose. Test report by Nick: excellent - the hot water bottle was warm after 12 hours in this cozy. Toasty!
