Today's topic in Knitting Crochet Blog Week should be "One Great Knitter". But I can impossibly just name one Great Knitter, or a knitter who's work I really enjoy. But I'll try, and just name two.
There are many who have tought me a lot, and one of them is Debbie Stoller. She's the author of Stitch 'N Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook, one of the books I learned to knit from and the book from which I made my first projects. I haven't followed her work outside these books, but as I kind of think that she taught me to knit, I would name her as one of my "Great Knitters".
Another great knitter who has taught me a lot is my Mum. She's a typical older-generation knitter who knows her basic patterns of socks, sweaters and shawls, but she's also not afraid to try out a pattern and knit something completely different. She's made stuffed toys for my niece, and continues to produce an impressive amount of beautiful and well made children's clothes and socks to be given to charity. She uses simple, durable, beautiful yarns that she can get hold of easily, and finds innovative ways to use up scraps. My Mum is really an inspiration to me in many areas of my life, and knitting is certainly one of them.
Oh, and the tag for today's post is knitcroblo3 (search this in a search engine and you'll find many other participants of the Blog Week)
